Rourkela: 2 held for looting Rs 51 lakh gold ornaments from jewellery shop staff – N.F Times



Rourkela: Police have arrested two persons for allegedly looting gold ornaments worth Rs 51.86 lakh from a jewellery shop employee in Odisha’s Rourkela city.

The two accused are brothers who reside in Basanti Colony here. Gold ornaments weighing over 500 grams have been seized from their possession.

The duo had allegedly stabbed victim Pradeep Kumar Soni, a resident of Basanti Colony, with knife and looted the bag containing the gold ornaments from him near Railway Colony here on December 15. He had sustained injuries in the attack and was hospitalized.

Pradeep had gone to Kolkata to buy the ornaments and returned to Rourkela in Azad Hind Express. While he was heading towards his house carrying the valuables on a scooter, the looters intercepted him and committed the robbery.
