Rayagada: Police today detained a school teacher for allegedly sexually harassing girl students of the educational institution in Odisha’s Rayagada district.
The accused has been identified as Niranjan Nayak of Indira Nagar Upper Primary School here.
As per allegation, the teacher used to harass the students in a room of the school during lunch time. He had threatened the students to issue transfer certificate if they disclosed the matter before their parents.
After the incident came to fore, parents of the students today reached the school and created ruckus. They later thrashed the accused. Eventually, the teacher apologized in front of the parents.
On the basis of a complaint lodged by them, police detained the accused for questioning.
