Unidentified miscreants loot more than Rs 20 Lakh from ATM in Odisha’s Balasore – N.F Times



Khaira: An automatic teller machine (ATM) of a private bank was looted late Wednesday night by some unidentified miscreants by cutting open the kiosk at Tudigadia Bazaar of Khaira town in Balasore district. The looters decamped with cash of more than Rs 20 lakh from the teller machine.

According to a source, the ATM kiosk located in a marketplace was targeted and its cash chamber was opened by cutting it with a gas cutter. Around six bike-borne miscreants are involved in the heist.

The lootera gang had come in an SUV and decamped with the cash soon after committing the crime. The miscreants also hurled two bombs for reasons not ascertained yet, some locals expressed.

On the other hand, the residents alleged that the loot occurred due to a lack of police patrolling.

On being informed, Khaira police reached the spot and initiated a probe, which is underway.

It is pertinent to mention, an ATM of the State Bank of India (SBI) was looted on the night of December 9 by some unidentified miscreants near Ballahar Chhak of Talcher town in Angul district.
