Sports Science India holds inter-school quiz competition in Odisha capital – N.F Times


Bhubaneswar: Sports Science India — Eastern India’s first-of-its-kind sports science, medicine and rehabilitation centre–organised the maiden edition of ‘Sports Pro— SSI Inter-School Quiz’ at Engineers Bhawan in Odisha capital here recently.

Sports Science India, in association with Odisha Quiz Association, organised the mega quiz competition.

As many as 11 teams (comprising two members each) from the different schools across Odisha competed in two rounds — written and viva, and were felicitated with cash prizes. The quiz competition was inaugurated by Women and Child Development Department Commissioner-cum-Secretary Shubha Sarma.

The show was be hosted by acclaimed Quiz Master Kamal Rathi.

Jyotiraditya Tripathy and Samyak Beura (both Standard 11) of DAV Public School grabbed the first position at the grand event while the second prize went to Sai Arush Das and Adyant Patnaik (Standard 8) of DAV School Unit 8. Similarly, the third prize was awarded to Chirag Mallick and Himansu Sekhar (Standard 11) of DAV School, Unit 8 in Bhubaneswar.

The chief guest thanked the organisers and teachers for the event and exhorted the students to participate in such events in large numbers.

Speaking at the event, Guest of Honour K Ravi Kumar said, “Participation in these events is very essential for the all-round development of children. I would request parents and teachers to encourage their children and students to participate in such events.”

He congratulated Sports Science India for the initiative.

Addressing the gathering, Sports Science India Founder Dr Sarthak Patnaik said, “The benefits of participating in sports go beyond learning new physical skills. Sport helps children develop better ways to cope with the highs and lows of life. Victory and defeat are very much part of sports events. Defeat makes us resilient.”
