Class VIII student allegedly beaten to death by his father in Odisha Capital; probe on – N.F Times



Bhubaneswar: A middle-aged man allegedly beat his minor son to death in Unit-3 locality under Kharvel Nagar police limits of Bhubaneswar. The incident came to the fore after an FIR was lodged today in this regard with local police. However, the accused’s mother-in-law alleged that the boy was killed.

The deceased was identified as a 14-year-old son of one Santosh Kumar Parida from Unit-3 locality. The minor was a student of Class VIII.

According to a source, Santosh’s mother-in-law has been staying with the man for the last several years. She opposed when the man was beating his son but to no avail, the elderly woman alleged.

On the contrary, Santosh mentioned in his FIR that the minor had not been scoring good marks in the exams. The boy died by suicide for his poor performance by hanging himself with the help of a cable wire, the written report mentioned.

Notably, the minor boy’s body has been kept in the mortuary of Capital Hospital. Kharvel Nagar police have initiated a probe into the death, which is underway.
