BJP to win 20 of 21 Lok Sabha seats in Odisha, asserts Amit Malviya quoting survey – N.F Times

Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) may win as many as 20 Lok Sabha (LS) seats in Odisha in 2024 elections, said party’s social media in-charge Amit Malviya while quoting a pre-poll survey report.

“The BJP may get 20 out of the total 21 Lok Sabha seats in Odisha in 2024 elections while the BJD will win just one seat. This was predicted by Federal-Puthiyathalaimurai-Apt Nationwide 2024 Pre-Poll Survey,” said Malviya in a Twitter (X) post.

According to Malviya, the survey predicted 54.90 per cent vote share for BJP in Odisha in 2024 Lok Sabha polls. The ruling Biju Janata Dal’s (BJD) vote share would be around 19.35 per cent.

The BJP’s vote share was 38.40 per cent in Odisha in 2019 Lok Sabha polls and the party managed to win eight of the total 21 LS seats in the state.

The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) had won 12 LS seats with a vote share of 42.80 per cent in 2019.

The Congress party came victorious in just one LS seat with vote share of 13.40 per cent.

The survey has predicted that the vote share of BJP is likely to go up by 16.50 per cent in Odisha in 2024 polls. On the other hand, the vote share of BJD may fall by 22.45 per cent in comparison to 2019 polls. The Congress party is most likely to draw a blank in the upcoming polls, said the BJP leader.

Both BJD and the Congress party, however, rejected the survey report.

“Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has been voted as the most popular Chief Minister in home state as per the Mood of the Nation’ survey by the India Today Group recently. The popularity of Odisha Chief Minister and the BJD government in Odisha has been intact in last several years. The people of Odisha will vote for the BJD in the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in the state,” said party MLA Raj Kishore Das.

Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Sarat Pattanayak said pre-poll survey report does not come true always. “Many survey reports had predicted that the Congress party would retain power in Chhattisgarh Assembly polls in 2023. But, we lost the election in the neighbouring state. The Congress party came to power in Telangana by defying all survey reports. I do not know which survey agency has predicted 20 LS seats for BJP in Odisha. The Congress party is confident of winning at least 12 LS seats at 90 Assembly seats in the state in 2024,” said Pattanayak.
