Bhubaneswar: The residents of four panchayats under Lanjigarh block in Odisha’s Kalahandi district have threatened to boycott the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections if the authorities do not take immediate steps to provide mobile network and internet facility in their locality.

The residents of four panchayats under Lanjigarh block, including those of Bedagaon, Kankuturu and Kumakhal, have claimed that the administration is yet to take any step to provide mobile network and internet facility in their locality.

A private telecom operator has installed a few mobile towers in the area but it has not provided mobile network and internet facility to the villagers.

The villagers are facing innumerable difficulties to make mobile calls and access internet for various purposes including health and education. They have raised their demands before the administration several times in the past but to no avail.

Now, the villagers have threatened to boycott the 2024 Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Odisha if the administration does not fulfill their demands at the earliest.

The villagers have also announced not to cooperate with the leaders of any political party during the upcoming twin polls.
