Police act tough on traffic rule violators in Odisha Capital; seize 1,462 vehicles, suspend 902 DLs – N.F Times

Bhubaneswar: Under ‘Safe City Drive’, Commissionerate Police-Bhubaneswar seized at least 1,462 vehicles and suspended 902 driving licenses (DLs) in February and March this year.

In its bid to stop dangerous driving behaviours, police vigilantly combat traffic violations, particularly target reckless behaviours such as drunken driving, red light jumping, driving against flow, and mobile phone usage while driving. “With a determination and commitment to enforcement, we have effectively seized erring vehicles, ensuring a safer environment for every citizen,” a senior official said.

“We anticipate sustained cooperation from the public to uphold these crucial endeavours and to obey traffic rules,” the senior cop expressed.

Notably, cops in BBSR urban police district (UPD) acted tough on 715 cases of drunken driving, 212 cases of red light jumping, followed by driving against flow (293), and hand-held devices seized (242) in these two months. Police have registered 357 FIRs against the violators of traffic rules.

Prosecutions reported are 1,105, the DCP of Traffic, BBSR-CTC added.
