Sunstroke Claims 36 Lives Across Odisha – N.F Times




Bhubaneswar: As of June 4th, the state has recorded 149 fatalities due to sunstroke. With 2 more deaths in the past 24 hours, the total death toll has risen to 151.

Under the direction of the State Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), a probe into the causes of these deaths is currently in progress. The report indicates that out of all the deaths, 36 were due to sunstroke and 31 were due to other complications. The investigations for the remaining 84 cases are still underway.

The state is currently experiencing a severe heatwave condition. A warning has been issued advising people to stay indoors and refrain from working during the peak daytime temperatures.
