Ambulance Runs Late; Pregnant Woman Carried On Cot For 2 Kms, Gives Birth On Road – N.F Times

Kalahandi: A tribal woman in Kalahandi district was forced to give birth on the road as the ambulance failed to arrive on time.

The incident took place in Dengpharsi village under Thuamul Rampur block when an ambulance, called after the woman went into labour, reportedly failed to arrive on time due to inadequate road facilities in the remote village.

As per reports, Saibani Majhi, wife of Bhagindra Majhi suffered a labor pain today. Her family members contacted the 102 ambulances to take her to the hospital.

As there was a lack of road connecting to the village, 3 men in the village carried Saibani on a cot and walked for 2 kms, fearing the arrival of the ambulance. In such a situation there was a delay in the arrival of the ambulance. Before reaching the hospital, Saibani gave birth to a baby girl on the road.

Later, an ambulance arrived and took the mother and the child to Thuamul Rampur Community Health Centre. Now, both the mother and the baby are said to be healthy.
