Five Naxals Gunned Down by Security Forces in Chhattisgarh – N.F Times

Chhattisgarh: Five Naxalites died at the hands of security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district in an encounter on Tuesday said the police.

The clash occurred in a forest within the Kohkameta police station’s jurisdiction in Abujhmad, a mountainous wooded region, during an anti-Naxal operation conducted by a joint team of various security forces, a senior police official reported.

Reports indicate that a team of security forces was dispatched to the location after receiving intelligence about Naxalite activities in the area. Upon the soldiers’ arrival, the Naxalites opened fire, prompting a retaliatory response from the troops. During this engagement, the security forces have successfully neutralized 5 Naxalites.

“The search is ongoing, and we are awaiting further details; no security personnel were harmed in the operation”, said the police.

The operation, which began on Sunday, included members of the District Reserve Guard, Special Task Force, Border Security Force, and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police from various districts, the police informed.

Following this latest clash, the total number of Naxalites killed in encounters with security forces in the state this year has increased to 138. Of these, 136 Maoists were eliminated in the Bastar division, which includes seven districts such as Narayanpur, while two were killed in the Dhamtari district within the Raipur division.
