New Delhi: Delhi remains shrouded in a dense smog, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) persisting in the ‘Very Poor’ category in several regions as of Sunday morning, reports the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
The AQI levels were noted at 328 near New Delhi Railway Station, 349 at Chandni Chowk, and a ‘severe’ 473 at Anand Vihar.
Residents are expressing deep concern over these distressing numbers, noting, “Day by day, pollution is on the rise. It’s a worrisome issue. Exposure to such levels of pollution during morning walks is troubling.”
According to the Early Warning System for Delhi’s air quality, managed by the Union Ministry of Earth Sciences, the AQI is expected to stay in the ‘Very Poor’ range from Sunday to Tuesday. The CPCB’s AQI scale classifies 0-50 as good, 51-100 as satisfactory, 101-200 as moderate, 201-300 as poor, 301-400 as very poor, and 401-500 as severe.
