Miscreants attack woman IIC during raid on gambling den in Odisha’s Balasore – N.F Times



Balasore: A group of miscreants allegedly attacked Champabati Soren, inspector-in-charge (IIC) of Talasari Marine Police Station, when the woman cop raided a gambling den at Udaypur village under Bhogarai block of Odisha’s Balasore district, late last night.

As per reports, the incident took place when the IIC arrived at a local shop to check and stop gambling activities.

Upon her arrival, the perpetrators engaged in a heated argument with her, escalating into a scuffle. They confined the police official within the shop and also attacked the patrolling vehicle’s driver Sudhansu Mohanty, who attempted to intervene.

On being informed about the assault, a team from Bhogarai Police Station and Chandaneswar Police Outpost rushed to the spot and rescued the two.

Later, police detained 20 persons for questioning in connection with the attack on the cop.

A platoon of police force has been deployed in the village to maintain law and order.

“We are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter, and appropriate legal measures will be taken,” said Jaleswar SDPO Dilip Sahu.
